Media SEO
Use SEO in your videos to better its reach
Have you wondered how your content appears in searches? How do the search engines know where to look? We discuss all that you need to know here.
OVERVIEW
The search engines need information about your content to make them appear in searches. How do they get them? Media SEO is the process that feeds all the information or metadata (as they call it) about your content to the search engines/ This will help in driving more traffic, in other words, more people to your website and watch your content.
What do we do?
SHOW actually provides your video's metadata on your website by adding JSON-LD into your website's header. We improve your video's reachability on search engines by following the general SEO guidelines as part of our marketing strategy.
WHAT IS MEDIA SEO?
As we mentioned earlier, Media SEO is the procedure where metadata is added to your website to help search engines read your website better. The JSON-LD file that we inject into your website's header contains your media's metadata that will give the following information to the search engine.
- Title of the Media
- Description of the Media
- Media Length
- Thumbnail of the Media
- Transcript of the media (If available)
SHOW incorporates this metadata to your website using our SEO functionality, in turn, optimizing the website for search engine indexing. Search Engines, like Google, can discover your content and index them properly if you use the recommended markups.
MARKUP FOR MEDIA SEO
Markups are codes that are inserted on websites to help get favorable results in search engines. When a search engine like Google is 'crawling' through your website, it can find and index the media on a page in your website only if it has the right video markup.
The process of creating and adding markups is a little on the technical side and most of our users might have problems doing it themselves. So this is why SHOW will do that for you!
What do we do?
When you use our Standard Inline Embed on a page, the SHOW app will put up a markup automatically for the search engines to find.
We basically would need to insert the following markup in the header section as part of the recommended properties in Google's guidelines. If you type in the video name and the description, we will take care of the rest.
MARKUP | WHAT IS IT? |
---|---|
Name | Title of your video |
Description | A short description of your video. It is an important part of a video since it helps a lot to get better search results. |
Thumbnail URL | URL pointing to the thumbnail that will be used to show your video's preview |
Embed URL | URL pointing to the video player |
Duration | Running time of your video |
Upload Date | The date your video was uploaded to SHOW |
Transcript | Your video's transcript is directly converted to metadata for the search engine's ability to check if your video has captions. |
If you think of changing the name or description or any other details, you don't have to go through the embed process again. We will update the new information automatically.
