User Data - Custom Attribute

Better tracking with custom attributes

It is always highly preferred to get user data that is not just limited to names and email addresses from your digital assets. With GetShow, there are no limits to adding more attributes that you can collect from forms linked to your video. Track everything from employee ID based on the department to pay grade and even include questions that require multiple answers like interests.

Let us understand the process of creating a custom attribute with Show

Step 1: Settings > user data\ When you click on settings check for the user data section in the left-hand section.

Step 2: User data>New Attribute\ When you click on usage it should show a screen with all existing attributes and also an option to add a ‘new attribute’.

Click on the button on the top right corner that says ‘new attribute’. When the pop opens, add the attribute name. This attribute name can only be edited once so enter the right names. Also add the description as to what this attribute is going to document for you just so it is easier to arrange and sort multiple attributes.

There are four types of attributes that can be created and added to your digital assets.\ Text: Allows only text input and rejects numbers and special characters

Number: Allows only numbers or a range or scale of numbers you can add

Boolean: Allows you to add True/False options to your attributes

List: Allows users to add more than one input for the same question.\ While text can help you get names and designations, numbers can help you get crucial data points like salary ranges and income slabs. Boolean and list can also be used to collect multiple data points from employee interests to how satisfied they are with their current jobs.

Step 2: Create an Attribute\ Select the type of attribute you want to collect, add a description, give the attribute a name and click the “create” button on the “Create a New Attribute” pop-up. This will generate a green pop-up in the right hand bottom of the screen prompting that you have created an attribute successfully.

Step 3: Add newly created attribute\ Go to the video that needed the form. Then click on the “customize option” on your right hand side.

Step 4: Select form\ When the customization screen opens select “form” the right hand side of your screen.

When you click this the default form should appear that contains questions about name and email address.

Step 5:

If you have to add custom attributes to track other attributes then select “custom form” from the drop down menu that reads “form type”.

When you select it the email address will appear by default because it is a mandatory field.

Step 6: To add the custom attribute scroll down on the right hand side and click the “+add field” button.

Step 7:

This will open a pop up with the newly added attribute click on enable and this will add the custom attribute.

If you deem this info is of utmost importance click on the mandatory field to make this an unskippable question. After the necessary fields are added click save and your newly added attribute should appear on the Turnsite bar on the right hand side.

Tracking surveys with show

In the customize option you have options to add surveys to the video assets you have created. Once you click on “add survey” you can edit your questions and give appropriate answers with the survey/poll bar on the right hand side. Green pop up message should appear telling you that your custom survey was added.

Once the survey has been sent and people have responded, you can click on the “reports” section on the bottom left hand side and then click survey reports.

Here too, you can filter with your custom attributes to help get better insights. Filter survey responses with certain employee IDs, or geographical region or even pay scale.

Editing newly added attributes\ While you can add multiple attributes to the turnside bar you can also rearrange the form and its questions by simply dragging and arranging them in the same section.

This allows users to track specific data first and arrange them accordingly for clean storage and retrieval. Once everything's arranged and set click on the “save” button at the right side bottom. The green pop up will tell you that the changes are saved successfully.

Once saved, go to the share option and open the video on a new tab to see if the form has all attributes that you recently added. Once the form is circulated, you can see the responses collected from the dashboard. Click on customers and see all data needed, you can filter data based on different attributes like employee ID and organization name. To do this click on the filter icon and you should be able to see all the newly added attributes. To help consume vast amounts of data we have provided multiple filter options like ‘starts with/ends with’ and much more.

Deleting custom attributes\ The user data section clearly has separate icons to show you edit and delete options. As said before attribute name can not be edited but description and types can always be edited. Click the bin icon to delete any attribute that you feel is unnecessary.

Show not just help you with efficient ways to gather data but also provides great ease of access and a better way to read the data to get deep insights from your digital assets.
